Do old places give you that special warm and happy feeling?
You know what we mean. Authenticity. Connection.
A sense of the stories of those who came before us and a link to those who will come after? If you said yes, then take time to get to know Restore Oregon.
Whether you are a hardcore preservationist or an accidental one...
You know there are many forces threatening the places we love, but there's only one non-profit working statewide to save them: Restore Oregon.
At Restore Oregon we believe:
- in all Oregonians and work to bring equity and inclusion to historic preservation
- in the places that define Oregon - its architecture, cultural heritage, Main Streets, craftsmanship, and landscapes
- in economic regeneration through adaptive re-use with our old buildings
- preservation can help solve real-world problems of affordability, housing, climate change, and diversity
Restore Oregon works tirelessly to save the places you love:
We advocate for preservation-friendly policies, like the state historic preservation tax credit.
We educate Oregonians through events that celebrate outstanding preservation work, like our annual Mid-Century Modern Design Series and the DeMuro Awards.
We help people plan, protect, and preserve Oregon's heritage with free technical advice--whether through our resource guides or answering hundreds of calls and emails for help.
Founded in 1977, Restore Oregon is a state-wide, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, supported by members/donors, led by a volunteer board, and staffed by professionals, who help people save and revitalize historic places and spaces. We work on the front lines and behind the scenes to leverage relationships, resources, and creativity to preserve, protect, and pass forward Oregon's heritage.
Restore Oregon promotes inclusive historic preservation as a means to preserve Oregon’s diverse cultural heritage and to help solve problems like affordable housing, rural economic development, and climate change. We advocate for effective policies and incentives, deliver education programs, and directly intervene to save endangered places that matter to their community.
